"Sf. Nicolae" - Rebegesti - Biserica dintre ape

"Sf. Nicolae" Church - Rebegesti sits on the dike that separates lakes Zmeul si Buftea.
The cache is outside the church premises and available 24/7, but I strongly recommend you visit the place when you can enter the church and admire the unique paintings.

Biserica "Sf. Nicolae" - Rebegesti se afla pe digul care separa lacurile Zmeul si Buftea.
Cutia se afla in afara curtii si este disponibila 24/7, dar va recomand sa mergeti acolo cand biserica este deschisa pentru a admira picturile unicat din interior.

It was built in 1669 by the Great Chancellor Radu Cretulescu, owner of the Cretulesti village, and by his brother, Padure Postelnicul.

Ca arhitectura, monumentul apartine perioadei de tranzitie de la stilul folosit in timpul domniei lui Matei Basarab la stilul brancovenesc, reflectand talentul mesterilor romani si stradania lor de a construi intr-o autentica maniera autohtona. Pictura vadeste o inclinatie pregnanta spre laicizare, pastrand prea putin din vechile influente bizantine.

When the dikes were built, the church was lifted a few meters on a large concrete slab. Paper markers were set on old cracks in the walls, and none was broken, proving the skills of the engineers who worked there.

Cu ocazia construirii barajului de pe raul Colentina, biserica a fost ridicata cu cativa metri, pe o grinda continua de beton. Martori de hartie au fost lipiti pe vechile crapaturi, iar cand biserica a fost ridicata, niciunul nu s-a rupt, demonstrand maiestria inginerilor care au conceput planul de ridicare.
