Back of Bearii Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

E_Zii: Well I am now archiving this Geocache, as I am unable to continue maintaining it. I hope that someone else decides to replace the Geocaches in this really interesting district, to continue drawing people down here.

Farewell Bearii, it was a great 17 years, but life takes me in a different direction now and I must see where it the journey takes me.

Happy caching!

Geocache Description:

Back of Bearii takes you along any number of rough bush tracks to, you guessed it, the Back of Bearii!

So, where is Bearii? The quiet village of Bearii is located approx 250 kms north of Melbourne; a pleasant 2.5hour drive.the township has the advantage of the picturesque Murray River close by for fishing, swimming, camping and boating activities.

Bearii is central to the towns of Cobram, in the east, Nathalia in the west, Numurkah in the south and Tocumwal(NSW) in the north - all being approx 30 minutes away. Further afield are the cities of Shepparton, Yarrawonga, Echuca and Denniliquin, all taking around 45-60minutes travel by car.

The area is primarily farmland, however these tracks are public "roads" albeit not particulary developed roads. In wet weather the tracks can turn treacherous, so if you don't have a 4wd you might want to park somewhere nearby and walk to the GZ....

The GZ is just off the side of the track and is a medium sized Sistema container, camoflagued and hidden out of sight. There are a number of tracks that lead to the GZ and soon there will be a number of geoaches throughout this area to highlight some of the places I enjoy visiting.

Enjoy the wildlife and scenery, this is a great place to come and relax. Some activities you can enjoy in this area are Horse Riding, fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, riding your bike and of course, geoaching!!

Be mindful of snakes, especially now that we have the warmer weather back upon us!
