Lagoon Labyrinth Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

holazola: Sadly, the day has come for me to archive this hide. It has gone missing, and I can't really reproduce it. I really liked this one. Thank you for all the favorite points over the 12 years.

Attached is a photo of the ammo-can and the attached geocoin. (log a visit if you want!)

In the spirit of refreshing the gameboard, I am working on a replacement nearby.
Keep an eye out!

Geocache Description:

Note: Cache is not at posted coordinates! The starting point is the center of a labyrinth. This is a SIMPLE offset cache. The final location can easily be determined on-site, or calculated beforehand. The cache is located 145 feet from the center of the labyrinth, at a bearing of 300 degrees. (PS you can check your guess below)

The Lagoon Island Labyrinth is a gift to USCB from Carol Geer. She retired from UCSB in 2000 after 21 years as the director of Counseling and Career Services, and executive director of Student Development Services. She hopes that the new Labyrinth Trail will be the most serene and inspirational six-tenths of a mile you'll ever walk.

Note that a labyrinth is NOT a MAZE--there are no dead ends or tricks. The labyrinth is a single circuitous path that leads uninterrupted to the center. There are 11 circuits or rings surrounding the center and the pathway turns 34 times en route from entry to center, alternating left turns with right turns creating an unconscious cadence that promotes introspection and reflection. The walker may sense that on the way to the center more time is spent walking away from the goal than heading toward it. There is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth--there's just a sense of moving through a design as old as the human imagination, free of dogma and judgment. Since ancient times and across cultures, walking the labyrinth has calmed the mind, relaxed the body, and revived the spirit of those who have followed its circuitous pathway. The multisensory natural setting of Lagoon Island enhances and deepens the effects of this focused walking experience.
