Geocache Description:

About 50 popular trees stand in rows along a sandy path on the west side of Hokkaido University Museum (formerly the Department of Science). These poplars, which often appear on postcards and posters, were planted on a farm at Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido University) in 1903 for farm training.

Some of the trees are 100 years old, and many sightseers come from throughout Japan to see them.
About half of the poplars were uprooted by Typhoon Songda in September 2004. Some of the fallen trees were re-planted, and some young poplars were planted. The passage between the rows of the trees is closed to the public, except for an 80-m promenade of woodchips.

Sometimes there are a lot of strollers and tourists at the site.
