Geocache Description:

A small black magnetic nano cache placed by Chicken run5 and adopted by g1ink.

Records of Buxtons weather began in 1868 when the first climatalogical station was set up in the grounds of Devonshire Royal Hospital by public subscription. Since 1907 daily recordings have also helped to build up long term data of the British climate. In 1925 the equipment was moved to this site and continues to provide information to local people and visitors to the town, to the Meteorological Office, and to commerce, industry, schools and universities. The stations instruments are inspected and calibrated annually by the Met Office.
