Geocache Description:

Another one of my local airports, used by Civil Air Pilot (CAP) for conducting Search And Rescue (SAR) training and real missions.

Even though I only landed here a few times, I can still remember those training sessions for CAP and the one lesson my flight instructor, Fred J. Wright, taught me at this airfield. The one that always comes to mind was the night takeoff from runway 7. At night the dark waters over the bay really does cause you to lose your reference and become dis-orientated (a/k/a dizzy!) That one lesson made a very lasting impression on my flying experiences. If you stand at GZ for awhile, you just might have a plane past overhead. If you truly love flying, then you are compelled to look up. Every pilot who loves flying does this. Just ask his or her spouse! BYOP
