Geocache Description:

A multicache starting at the former Mt Cook Police Barracks on Buckle Street.

Mt Cook Police Barracks, constructed in 1894, is one of New Zealand's most historic police buildings. Unlike most public buildings, which were built by the Public Works Department, the Prison Department undertook the construction of the new police station. Prison labour was supplied from the nearby Mount Cook and Terrace Gaols. In addition, the Mount Cook Gaol (located on the hill above the station where the old Dominion Museum is today) supplied the bricks to build the building and the boundary wall. If you look closely you will be able to see the arrow marks on the prison bricks. These are particularly visible on the boundary wall that runs along Tasman Street.

The cache is located at S41 18.ABC, E174 46.DEF

Co-ordinates are accurate to +/-10 metres. You will need to be stealthy, especially with the number of school- and university-muggles that frequent this area. I collected a large bag of rubbish, so remember to Cache In, Trash Out
