Geocache Description:

This cache is situated in Leicester's Victoria Park. The park covers 69 acres and has facilities for many sports, two children's play areas, a pavilion and features a large war memorial. Between 1806 and 1883, Victoria Park was used as a racecourse, and a Victorian grandstand stood in the park until 1940 when it was unfortunately damaged by a parachute bomb and later demolished. These days, it is regularly used to hold outdoor events, such as the Caribbean Carnival, Leicester Pride and has even been the home of several small music festivals.

You are looking for a black 35mm film canister geocache which contains a log and a small green pencil. The cache is hidden in a quieter part of the park within a small wooded area with slight overgrowth. Please replace natural camo when returning the cache to its hiding place. Stealth may be required if sunbathers or students are about!

This cache is dog and child friendly as the park is flat and has footpaths, but the cache is a short way off the path so take note if using pushchairs or wheelchairs. It is also best to go for this cache during the day or in small groups as the park is not very well lit at night. There is plenty of parking nearby and buses which stop on Queens Road and London Road. The park is also a short walk away from the train station, so easily accessible from all angles!

Happy Geocaching!
