Geocache Description:

I remember this area well……...

I remember…….The Elbow Beach Station.

My grandparents lived on Mission Road and when I visited them and we needed to go to town we would walk to this railroad station to get the train to Hamilton. Although I wouldn’t encourage anyone to do this, I remember waiting for the train and wondering how far off it was so I would put my ear to the tracks and depending on how loud the noise was determined how far away the train was. There was a station near our home and we neighbourhood kids when in need of cash to buy candy would look on the track on either side of the station for enough money to satisfy our sweet tooth. A lot of people dropped their money hurrying to get on the train!

I remember………Evangelical Church.

I grew up in this church ad played the piano here when I was a teenager. The congregation outgrew the original church and had to hold their services in their multi-purpose centre. They had planned to remodel and enlarge the church however after a construction company surveyed the structure they recommended demolishing it because it was built out of old Bermuda lime stone which tends to crumble after many years.

If you are a geo-tourist and ride a scooter this will be an easy find. If you have to take the bus be sure it is the South Shore route on the #7 from/to Dockyard or Hamilton. Ask the bus driver for assistance and say that you need to get off at the Evangelical Church. You can also take the Middle Road route on the #8 bus and get off at St. Paul’s Church but you will have an uphill walk to the cache. l Please be sure to say “Good morning” or “Good afternoon” to the bus driver before asking the question. Some drivers are very snippy about this protocol. I have seen tourists stand there forever trying to figure out why he/she won’t answer their question.
