Brown's Inlet Park - June 2011
At Waypoint 1 (TNGD's GC16AZ9: The Only Place It Could Be) go to the posted coordinates. Look at the house opposite you, and identify its street address. Encode this 3-digit number as ABC.
At Waypoint 2 (bluelamb03's GCMJVA: Ottawa's Bridges - Bank Street) go to the posted coordinates and locate the object where the cache is hidden. There are several labels attached with a telephone number listed. Encode this number as DEF-GHIJ.
At Waypoint 3 (The-Goat's GC20GDC: Claire & Hugh Cache) go to the coordinates and find the place where the cache is hidden. Around the opposite side is a round metal tag with an 8-character ID number. Note: as of spring 2013 this tag has been damaged. On the top line you can read 3 digits. They are 2MN.
At Waypoint 4 (rrules' GC2KT94: Speedy's Black Diamond Nano) go to the coordinates. Right at eye level you'll see a yellow tag with another 8-character ID number. Call this RSxTx|xUV (ignore the "x"'s which represent letters).
Calculate the Final Coordinates for the Brown's Inlet cache using your encoded digits:
N45° 23.MSB W075° 41.VGN
Be discreet! On sunny days the park is always busy so watch out for muggles. At night, avoid arousing the suspicions of adjacent neighbours. The nearest neighbour is aware of the cache placement. Not recommended for boisterous groups.
Please be sure to replace the container in the same spot you found it so it remains weather resistant.
BE CAREFUL THAT YOU ARE NOT OBSERVED WHILE REPLACING THE CACHE!
How far is it? The distance between the 4 Waypoint Caches plus the Final is about 3.5 km. You don't have to visit them in the order listed. Some lazy geocachers have even done them as PnG's!
How long will it take? About an hour; maybe less if you've already logged the 4 Waypoint Caches and are just picking up numbers.
Dog friendly? No problem at the first 4 caches. The rules for Brown's Inlet Park are more complicated so we'll post them here:
Dogs are always welcome but between Apr 1-Oct 31 they must be on leash M-F from 9-11am and 2-7pm, and Sa-Su from 11am-7pm. Between Dec 1-Apr 10 dogs are not allowed on the Toboggan Hill (along Holmwood Ave).
Night friendly? Yes, with a Caution: All Waypoints except #2 are very close to private residences. If you're a night cacher you already know to be careful shining strange lights near someone's home. The Final is in a public park which is offically closed after sundown. It's within view of about two dozen houses, so be extra mindful of nervous neighbours if skulking around in the dark.
