Geocache Description:

This cache is a short walk from the main Plockton village. It leads to a beautiful white beach, which is a great place to watch for wildlife or just potter about.

As you approach Plockton by car, turn left at the school (signed for the railway station). Don't drive into the station, but instead follow the road, turning left when signed 'Dubh Aird' and 'Beach access'. After the next couple of corners, there is room to park near a green caravan and a wooden footpath sign.

Turn along the track as indicated by the wooden sign ('Footpath to the Shore'). After passing through a gate continue straight ahead, ignoring the track off to the right. The track ends at a turning area, close to another green caravan. Go through the gate straight ahead here, and follow a path through the gorse bushes.

The path doglegs right slightly into some woodland. Bear left here and continue downhill, soon reaching the beach after scrambling carefully down the slabby rocks. The beach sand is made out of dried, calcified sea weed known as maerl, like the similar but better known coral beach on Skye.

The cache is a small container in a camo bag located just off the path, before you reach the beach itself.

It is a beautiful and completely peaceful spot; a place to linger. When you've had enough the return is by the same outward route.
