Located on top of Whitrock Mountain accessed via a side trail
off Bartram Trail. Expect a moderate hike of approximately 4.5
miles round trip. The cache (a 30oz plastic jar) is hidden on top
of Whiterock Mtn about 25 yards from the trail. You DO NOT need to jeopardize your life to find this
cache as it is hidden in a easily accessible area away from
cliffs. After visiting the cache, continue to follow the trail to
the clifftop view. Exercise caution around the cliffs.
Driving Directions: From US64 between Highlands and
Franklin, take Turtlepond Road continuing on via Dendy Orchard
Road. The road turns to gravel and a bit steep but fully passable.
At the top, turn at a road on the left marked with a USFS Bartram
Trail sign located at N35° 04.781' W083° 16.876'. Continue up this
windy road to the Jones Gap Trailhead parking at N35° 04.565' W83°
17.285'. (refer to the GCW7J0 Jones Knob cache driving directions
for clarity). Finding the trailhead can be a challenge, so I upped
the difficulty rating to reflect that.
Be sure to visit the nearby Jones
Knob cache (GCW7J0).
