Geocache Description:


Lightkeeper Jane and the St. Helena Island Lightstation will be hosting a geocaching open house to the remote island of St. Helena in Northern Lake Michigan on Sunday, August 7, 2011. Participants will need to pack a personal lunch as there is no food available to purchase on the island. Fresh water is available from the certified well at the lighthouse.

The trek around the island is 4 miles of rocky shoreline. Suitable footwear that can get wet is preferable. Personal watercraft may be used to reach this island or reservations for public transportation from Mackinaw City to St. Helena Island may be made by calling the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association at 231-436-5580.
