Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the corner of the road going up to St. Margaret’s and the church can be seen from here. St. Margaret’s never close. Please sign the quest book. You can look up St. Margaret’s on the internet at www2.memlane.com/djcarter

While in the church you can pick up a bookmark or a sheet on the history of this area. Most of these notes are taken from this sheet, including the name of the cache. St. Margaret’s was built in 1907, and dedicated in June of 1908. In the early 1940’s, the church was used twice as a school when the local school house burned down.

St. Margaret’s is one mile south of the “divide”. Water below this site runs into Medicine Lodge Creek, Milk River and ends up in the Gulf of Mexico. The water to the north of here empties into the South Saskatchewan River to Hudson Bay and finally to the Atlantic Ocean.

St. Margaret’s church is an historic building; it is the oldest church building still in use, south and east of Medicine Hat. The cemetery is an active grave yard in that burials continue to take place here.
