Geocache Description:

This spot marks the beginning of the main access road for the Marckworth State Forest via the Stossel Creek Road aka Tolt Truck Trail aka Cherry Valley Truck Trail.

The Marckworth is a beautiful working forest with excellent non-technical mountain biking and hiking on the many, many miles of logging roads and a few trails.

Back in the day this area was the location of a caching war of sorts, with a certain set of cachers one-upping each other with ever increasing difficult hides. Remnants of this war can be still be found in active caches such as In a Duck's Nest, Revisited and Stop the Insanity!. The area then went through a long calming period and caches, and visits by cachers, fell away until it started to become a distant memory.

Luckily, there’s been a recent caching resurgence thanks in large part to akitahikers and their excellent logging and railroad history series and the many interesting location and view caches by btrueblood.

So come on out and start your adventure in the Marckworth State Forest!
