Geocache Description:

Micro in a mini-log.

Thwaite Bridge used to carry the A684 road until the new bridge was built many years ago. The short section of old road is now used for farm storage, but the old bridge gives access to footpaths to Cotterdale, Yore House and Lady Anne's Highway, so the cache can be found as part of a walk, or as a drive-by with convenient parking in the large lay-by. The cache is not far from the bench mark (Flush Bracket 1267) on the opposite corner of the bridge at a height of 885 feet in the Second Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1912-21). The "container" can be seen in plain view from the main road corner of the bridge (unless increasing leaves obscure the view), but access will require a short detour. It was placed when the river was in minor flood, but will not be accessible in a major flood. When the slope is wet, the terrain rating might be higher. It's probably easiest to unhook (then rotate) to extract the micro. Don't let it fall in the water!
