Geocache Description:

slightly of the main path presenting fabulous views

A short walk from the last cache, the first thing you will come across as you walk around the path is the ruin of an old cottage, "The Craigs" Built in the 1700's as a single storey thatched house with 2 rooms , one for the beasts and one for the living quarters. *** Photobucket ** This was one of the few to be found in the central belt , Living conditions within such a building would be very sparten , earthen floors with rush Matting and a fire for heating , cooking and boiling water. Wells were close to hand and the pond is situated at one of these former sites. Horses being the "Tractors"of the day explain the horse chestnut trees on the approach to the site . A cure for internal bleeding, chestnuts were fed to the injured animals. *** further along the path a slight detour takes the path up to the left climbing a small hill to be graced with fantastic views all round. *** Photobucket
