Geocache Description:

This 3-stage cache has been placed in conjunction with the Wibaux Centennial celebration. The first two stages contain the information you will need to reach the final stage. You can park near the first stage and enjoy a nice walk (a little over a mile, round trip) or you can drive to the final location and you will find parking in front. You can learn more of Wibaux’s history by visiting the nearby museum and touring the museum grounds.

Stage 1
You will begin your journey into the past by visiting the local gardener, affectionately referred to as Matilda. Matilda was created by a local artist/craftsman who has provided the town with several sculptures, creating new from old. Here you will find the coordinates you will need in order to obtain the necessary information for finding the final stage of the cache.

Stage 2
Thirty-five years before the town of Wibaux was incorporated the United States Cavalry moved hostile Indians from this area, setting the stage for the cattle boom which was to follow. Pierre Wibaux ran one of the biggest cattle spreads around here in the early days. This took place between the years of
ABCD and EFGH.
When you arrive at Stage 2 use the information you will find before you to complete the blanks below. Have a seat on the benches nearby and enjoy the view of Beaver Creek as you compute the coordinates for the spot where the cache is located.
The final cache is located at:
N 46° 59. (B-D) (D) (D- A) W104° 11. ( F ) (E+G) ( D-A )

Stage 3
Park in front and enjoy the view from Pierre Wibaux’s vantage point and imagine how it may have looked when he arrived in this area. Take time to visit the memorial to the west before you leave – and of course, find the cache.
