Some folks love the ideas of shipping large amounts of freight and animals and specialty-items from places like Lionelville, Plasticville, Waterton, and a host of other fictional (or real) towns that are scaled-down to a fraction of their full-scale counterparts.
Pennsylvania Flyer train
These places existed.... With imagination and help from the "toys" that were produced nearby. For many years, the dreams were seeded by the full-color catalogs that would show locomotives, boxcars, trestles, plastic buildings, bridges, and other various accessories both for trackside and non-trackside alike.
The place now sits empty.... As far as we know. But the sounds of the wheels clickety-clacking are but echoes of times gone by. If you're quiet.... You may hear a whistle.... And not from the main rail line that runs to the east.
My love of Trains... large ones that we all can ride... as well as the model ones....will be with me forever. Maybe someday... i'll be able to ride the rails again... or get a nice train-set together to "play" with. At least many of us have the memories...and the imagination. :)
