Geocache Description:

Note: The posted co-ordinates are bogus.

However, GZ is within 1 km. of them.

The following diagram shows a grid of all the numbers from 1 to 100 randomly arranged in a 10 x 10 grid.

To calculate GZ, you need to work out the Maximum and Minimum combinations of 10 cells, one from each row and column.

i.e. Select a cell, then remove all others in that row and column. Repeat until you have chosen 10 cells. Add these 10 numbers together. Repeat as often as necessary to ensure that you have the highest possible total.

Note: There are two different combinations that give the maximum value - you will need to find both solutions. If you can only find one, then you probably don't have the maximum possible!

Repeat the exercise again, this time looking for the smallest total. There is only one solution for the minimum.

To determine the location of GZ, use your optimal solutions as follows:.

Let MIN be the minimum total you found.

SSS = 3 x (MIN - 100) + 4

If you compare your two solutions for the maximum value, 7 of the rows are in common, and 3 are unique. If you add up the values of the 3 unique row values for each solution, they will, of course be equal. Let this number be UNIQUE3. (Don't add all six numbers together). Let MAX be the maximum total you found for either solution.

EEE = 8 x (MAX - 750) + UNIQUE3 - 207

The cache is placed at S 37° 56.SSS E 145° 18.EEE.
It is a camou mega bison.
