La roche taillée par les romains il y a 2000 ans ..
Pour en savoir plus sur le canal romain, visitez la multi-cache de la source de la Siagnole.

Les Romains ont creusé cette gigantesque tranchée en aplomb des gorges de la Siagnole pour conserver la pente d'écoulement de l'aqueduc qui va alimenter au 1er siècle de notre ère la cité de fréjus sur le littoral méditerranéen.
Une impressionnante tranchée à ciel ouvert, à 1,6 km de la source sur la rive droite des gorges de la Siagnole. Creusée à coup de pics et de smilles dans le calcaire gris du Jurassique inférieur.
Le premier ouvrage, tombé 150m en contrebas avait été abandonné par le romains. L'actuelle deuxième Roche Taillée, d'une longueur de près de 80 m, large de 3,50 m et profonde de plus de 10 m, est la partie visitable du site. Les parois de la tranchée sont reliées par un arceau taillé dans la masse destiné à éviter l'effondrement dans la rivière, que subit le premier ouvrage..
Un belvédère a été aménagé au dessus de l'arche qui enjambe la tranchée permettant une belle vue sur les gorges de la siagnole Bonne visite et descendez dans la tranchée, apprécier le travail de titan des romains creusant avec les outils de l'époque ...
