I spent 3 summers (1964, 1965 and 1966) at Camp Makualla as a Boy Scout. I went on to earn the Eagle rank, and have found that my Boy Scout experience gave me skills that have served me well, my entire life. Last winter, my beautiful geopartner/GF and I were snowmobiling around Crescent Lake when her snowmobile broke down, very near Camp Makualla. Fortunately, I learned to "Be Prepared," and had a tow rope and was able to tow us back to the lodge. We decided then that it was destiny to place a cache in this area. So, to all you scouts that visit this site, please know that "Being Prepare" is much more than just a slogan. It's an important life lesson.
