Geocache Description:

A small cache on the east side of the Guadalupe River trail. There is room for geocoins and small TB's.

Note that this cache is hidden among rocks and seasonal weeds. Footing may be unstable.

Spend your lunchtime walking along the trail in the sunshine, then have a seat on a rock to peek inside and sign the log. The geese and egrets are in on the deal, but stealth is advisable around the turkey vultures.

This cache is just south of the crossing and trailhead at Montague Expressway. This could be a PNG if there was public parking along Orchard or Montague. The closest legal parking spots are at VTA River Oaks and at Rivermark shopping center, it's about a half mile walk to the cache from either one. Lunchtime walkers find easy access through the gaps in fences behind the industrial buildings along Orchard, but parking is restricted. VTA light rail runs parallel to the trail along First St.

The trail itself on this side runs from downtown San Jose to Alviso where it joins the Bay Trail. It crosses the route 237 trail as well, and that makes it also a good route to Sunnyvale baylands. The east side trail is now paved from downtown San Jose to Alviso, so even skinny tire road bikes can enjoy the ride. There are several caches along the trail on both sides.

This cache is a small green lock-and-lock container a few feet off the trail towards the river, about three feet down the slope, and one or two feet into the rockpile from the south. Watch your step!

update 12/29/2012 FYI- The trail is open again, and the cache is replaced. The new location is a couple feet from the old one. Now it is a bit into the rocks so the hint and description are updated.

update 7/28/2017 Just checking, cache is in place. It had wandered a foot or so away. Now there is a new trail entrance less than 100 feet away, it's listed as a waypoint.

** Congratulations to n9jim for FTF!**
