Geocache Description:

A very small cache with room for a log and perhaps a geocoin or two. BYOP.

This cache is located at another historical Ramsey site, the Ramsey Train Station. In 1848, the Paterson & Ramapo Railroad purchased land for a new station from Peter J. Ramsey, when this area was known as Franklin Township. The Paterson & Ramapo Railroad was purchased shortly thereafter by the New York & Erie Railroad. The area became known as Ramsey's Station, and in time, simply Ramsey. A town grew up around the station, and it became an important stop for people, freight, and fruit, particularly strawberries, the leading Ramsey crop for many years.

The building across the tracks that now houses a florist and other retail stores once was the home of the Ramsey Journal, an ice cream store, pharmacy, hardware store and meat market. The Starbuck's nearby used to be Parvin's drug store. Across Main Street, another historical building houses Brady's at the Station, a popular Irish pub, which has been a Ramsey gathering place for decades and dispays many historical photographs of the town. Come visit on Sundays from June to October to experience the wonderful Ramsey Farmer's market from 10am to 2pm.

Congratulations to The Big E2 and GabaKufu for FTF!
