Geocache Description:

We are amateur genealogists as well as geocachers. Our research has taken us to many interesting cemeteries. We have enjoyed the cemetery caches put out by others and decided we would take you to cemeteries where some of our ancestors are buried. Because these cemeteries are connected to our own family tree we thought BRANCHES would be a fitting name for this series.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brodhagen
This congregation was originally part of the First Lutheran Church formed by German immigrants who settled in the area. In 1867, the church split into 2 congregations. The new group called themselves St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The first church was built in 1868. In 1921, the current red brick structure was built. Between 1858 and 1869 burials took place in the school yard across the road. In 1869 this cemetery was established. Many of the older tombstones are in German.

The cache is a micro.
