A Lost Well from the old World.
Many(30) years ago I was trail riding(motorcycle) near the track that runs along the railway line and came upon this wonderful structure.
At that time this Well still had the main frame, handle and drum still attatched to the stone subframe, kindly restored by a local by the name of Fred, alas no more.
This Well was once one of the few Wells along this track that was one of the stock routes that headed south to Adelaide. The water in the Well was used primarily for the stock but occationaly for the drovers and their families in dry times and (as far as I can glean from a very senior local) even the farmers had to resort to it in those same dry times mostly in the 1920's and 1930's.
This sructure has lasted Well over the last 150 years, so please only come to collect the cache and not a stone. I am bringing you here for the history and the mystery, so leave a path and sign the log and take only from the cache container.
Be careful if you have children with you as there is still water in the Well and it is not covered.
