Deutsche Beschreibung:
Der Bahnhof galt jahrelang als nicht gerade einer der Schönsten in Österreich. Man hat das aber in den letzten Jahren geändert. Seit 2006 wurde fleißig gebaut. 2011 war's dann endlich soweit und die Reisenden können nun einen tollen ersten Eindruck von der Barockstadt St.Pölten bekommen. Zur Geschichte: Nach dem Baubeschluss der „Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Westbahn“ 1851 wurde 1856 der Spatenstich für den Hauptbahnhof St. Pölten vorgenommen. Schon 2 Jahre später (1858) konnten die ersten Züge den neuen Haltepunkt benützen. 1877 ging die Bahnstrecke Leobersdorf - Kaumberg - St. Pölten (Traisentalbahn) in Betrieb, acht Jahre später die Linien nach Krems und Tulln. Seit 1907 ist der Bahnhof schließlich auch Ausgangspunkt der heute elektrifizierten Mariazellerbahn in den steirischen Wallfahrtsort Mariazell. Der Bahnhof wurde im Laufe der Zeit mehrmals umgebaut. Das erste Mal zwischen 1878 und 1889, damals wurde ein neues Bahnhofsgebäude mit der Durchfahrt zur Kremser Landstraße errichtet. Im April 1945 wurde die Stadt bombardiert, dabei wurde auch der Bahnhof beschädigt. In den Jahren 1965 bis 1969 wurde der westliche Teil des Bahnhofs erneuert und die historischen Eckpavillions durch Zweckbauten ersetzt die noch heute bestehen. Zuletzt wurde der Bahnhof im Zuge der aktuellen Bahnhofsoffensive erneuert.

Station 4: Schau auf die Straße hinunter. Hier findest du einen Kreisverkehr mit D grünen Kugeln. Im Winter können sie auch weiss sein.

Station 5: Du stehst vor einem Fenster. Wenn du hineinschaust siehst du eine Gedenktafel. Suche den Namen des Kameraden welcher 1905 geboren wurde und nimm die Anzahl der Buchstaben des Vor.-und Nachnamen als E.

The station wasn't just one of the most beautiful in Austria for many years. This was changed during the last years. The rebuild started in the year 2006 and was finished in 2011. Now the passengers can get a great first impression of the baroque city of St. Poelten. History: After the decision to construct the "Empress Elisabeth West Railway" 1851, 1856 the groundbreaking of the new railway station St. Poelten was made. 2 years later (1858), the first trains used the new station. 1877 the railroad Leobersdorf - Kaumberg - St. Pölten (Traisental Track) was in operation, eight years later, the lines to Krems and Tulln. Since 1907, the station is finally the starting point of today's electrified railway to Mariazell, the famous Styrian pilgrimage city. The station was rebuilt several times over the years. In April 1945 the city was bombed and the railway station was bombed also. In the years 1965 to 1969 the western part of the train station was renovated and the historic pavillions were replaced with commercial buildings which still exist till today. Recently the station was part of the last station renewing offensive.
