Geocache Description:

A regular sized cache hidden along the bank of the Spirit Flowage although perhaps it's actually the Spirit River at this point. The cache should be accessible by small boat, canoe, kayak or PWC.

While putting the third set of patches on the Spirit Splasher (affectionately known as the Blue Bomber), we (Team JanEric and Bea 'n Bapa K) decided to place a cache on the flowage and name it based on the success of our repairs. That resulted in our placing Spirit Flowage: Bailing Water (visit link)

For the next round of repairs I tore out one of the enclosed seats out and found a hull rivet missing... a fairly serious leak. So with that repair complete and the seat replaced, we were ready to set out on another cache run. Well, first we had to replace the shear pin that Team JanEric was unfortunate enough to break while down the flowage without a paddle. And we didn't have the properly sized shear pin so we had to fashion one out of a machine screw. We also made a spare just in case!

Now with all the repairs complete, a proper set of oars and a spare shear pin we confidently headed upstream to find a good spot for a cache. I'm happy to report that the journey was a Dry Run!

The channel winds a lot in the upper section of the flowage so make sure that you take the correct branch, which may not always seem to be the most direct route.

The water was relatively high when we placed the cache so we continued up river toward Spirit Falls. We ran out of time so we didn't make it to the falls but I'm told that it is possible when the water is fairly high.
