Geocache Description:

There are many different faiths that meet in Renfrew. This is a multi-cache that will take you on a tour of the churches in Renfrew. We had hoped to provide histories on each of the churches, but were unable to find anything more than the most basic information- even after researching at the Renfrew Archives.

Note: Despite the religious nature of this cache, neither Groundspeak nor I officially endorse any particular religion. The goal of this cache is to explore the churches of Renfrew, and is not meant to promote any particular faith.

Although the below steps are numbered, feel free to do these steps in the order most convenient to you. The final location is close to downtown Renfrew.

1. Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church
N45 28.474 W76 41.460

Find the cornerstone. What year was it laid?

2. St. James Lutheran Church
UPDATED N45 28.259 W76 40.874

Their church was torn down and they moved in with the United Church. Look for a white circular bell on the brick wall with writing on it. Take the last word and count the letters. Multiply the number of letters by 300, and then add 160.

3. Hebron Christian Reformed Church
N45 28.822 W76 41.799

This church has several entrances. How many entrances are there? (Pair of doors counts as one entrance).

4. Elmwood Bible Chapel
N45 28.554 W76 40.630

Beside the parking lot, behind the chapel, there is a distinct post with silver numbers on it preceeded by an "S". What are these four numbers?

5. Parkview Free Methodist Church
N45 28.210 W76 40.308

Look for an engraving beside the entrance to the church with two years on it. What is the earlier year?

6. Renfrew Presbyterian Church
N45 28.073 W76 40.799

Find the cornerstone to the Presbyterian Church. When was it erected? Don't confuse this corner stone with the one at Kirk Hall.

7. St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church
N45 28.258 W76 40.830

The Parish Hall is beside St. Francis Church. There is a distinct year above the entrance. What is the year?

8. Trinity St. Andrew's United Church
N45 28.268 W76 40.885

An engraving at the entrance shows the cornerstone was laid here in 1989 on the site of the former church destroyed by fire. When was the original church built?

9. Renfrew Baptist Church
N45 28.389 W76 41.035

There are carpeted steps leading to the church entrance. How many steps?

10. St. Paul's Anglican Church
N45 28.376 W76 41.229

11. The Salvation Army Renfrew Community Church UPDATE: Now called the Food Bank
N45 28.447 W76 41.308

12. Calvary Pentecostal Church
N45 28.833 W76 39.182
