Cache and Dash on the sight of what used to be Piketown Road
Welcome to what used to be the intersection of Piketown Road and Linglestown Road. Since this spot is near to my ancestral homeland I thought it would be a nice spot for a quick cache and dash for those leaving Harrisburg or those on their way to Hershey.
It was only a few short years ago that Piketown Road used to jog as it intersected Linglestown Road, and there was certainly no traffic light. In the early 2000's the Central Dauphin School board decided to move the then-overcrowded Central Dauphin High School (my alma-mater) from Locust Lane to Piketown Road. The increased traffic meant that it was time to make this intersection a little bit more manageable.
Also, if you are interested in the much-more ancient history of this area, check out the historical marker about Barnett's Fort.
As with cache and dash's, there is no need to get into any weeds on this one. Be smart about your parking because this is a busy road and the students tend to come down the hill a little too fast sometimes! Also, as with any roads in this area keep an eye out for the wildlife (deer, frogs, turtles, groundhogs, etc. ).
There is a little prize for the FTF. Have fun!!
Congrats to "T" and Inga for FTF this cache and their very first FTF!
