This cache is located at the former site of Camp Rocky Ridge, which
overlooked the Minister Valley for the better part of the 20th
century. The elder Panhandler spent many a summer here, and spent a
lot of hours hiking the various paths and trails of the valley. As
well as fishing Minister Creek from one end to the other.
Unfortunately the camp was removed (burned down as firefighter
practice) during the 1990s, along with most other hunting camps
along this road. This was part of an attempt to restore this land
to a "wilderness" state. Not much remains here now; The spring, a
piece of old stove, a water line.... Nothing much left but
memories. Memories of playing in the streams, collecting crayfish
and caddis nymphs for fishing. Memories of the flying night bugs,
incessantly circling the light out back which lit the way to the
outhouse. And memories of the old "Warm Morning" stove being fired
up in the morning to "take the chill off..."
The Cache:
You are seeking an ammo can. Park at the listed pull off area
near the old oil tank, and hike in the old driveway. The path is
blocked to motor vehicles. A clue is available if you need one. It
has been initially stocked with various swag. Sorry, no FTF
prize.
Enjoy.
