Geocache Description:

Former Bunya Park Wildlife Sanctuary

For several decades in the twentieth century, Bunya Park Wildlife Sanctuary was a privately-owned tourist attraction, a wildlife park and zoo, before it ceased operations in the early nineties. I have many childhood memories of visiting the Bunya Park Zoo. Anyone remember the maze? In 1996, part of the Bunya Park land was subdivided for residential development. However, the most environmentally sensitive land was acquired by council for its wildlife habitat and corridor values. The major buildings of Bunya Park are located on this land, and now house the Kumbartcho Environmental Centre developed by the local community and council.
PARK IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY.
PERMISSION HAS BEEN OBTAINED FROM THE PARK MANAGER (Kym) TO PLACE THIS CACHE.
ENJOY THE WALK THROUGH THE PARK. TRY TO FIND A KOALA WHILE YOU LOOK FOR THE CACHE.
