Geocache Description:

Albert Embankment, south of Lambeth Bridge

Albert Embankment was created between 1866 and 1869 to protect low-lying areas of Lambeth from flooding while also providing a new highway to bypass local congested streets. It was built by Sir Joseph William Bazalgette, CB, a civil engineer whose major achievement was the creation of a sewer network for central London which was instrumental in relieving the city from cholera epidemics.
