I grew up in a house that backed onto these fields. I
clearly remember being rocked to sleep by the trains that
passed
along what is now a tarmac footpath.
At the end of the gulley off Victor Street was a wrought
iron
footbridge that crossed the railway tracks. Of course we
rarely
used it.
The bridge was my way home from school and the gateway to
my
playground.
The fields were an off-road cycle track, a football field, a
camp-site. During the winter they became a winter wonderland,
a
toboggan run, a snowball battle field.
Now the railway track is a footpath and the fields belong to
the
horses but the memories endure.
This pair of quick grabs can be done in conjunction with
the
Horse Trail and Buzzards Trail caches, the parking available
in
Victor Street is ideal to set off on the trails.
Please take care to replace the caches
exactly how you found them....IF you find them!
