Geocache Description:

An easy cache on the wonderful North Star Trail which links Cranbrook to Kimberley.

Work on the North Star Branch railroad linking Cranbrook to Kimberley began in 1899. Now the rails have been lifted and the revitalized North Star Trail links our two cities with a cycle/walk/jog/rollerblade blacktop surface. It is a wonderful addition to our two cities.

As the North Star Trail has many access points, and roughly parallels the highway, it is easy to find a spot for starting and stopping while walking the trail. Cranbrook was really proud as being the starting point of the rail spur to the North Star Mine in Kimberley. This link between Cranbrook and Kimberley is now spanning three centuries of history of our area. This cache marks the present beginning of the south end of the North Star Trail. As things become finalized the trail may have a slightly different starting point.

I have suggested a spot that has ample parking for the geomobile and then it’s an easy walk/jog/hike/bike to the cache site..
