Geocache Description:

East Fork Sentinel

Keeping guard of the East Fork at the most Northern end, the Sentinel will not allow you to easily claim a find. After all, it is the Sentinel’s responsibility to deter your presence on that peak.

To avoid a severe nightmarish buck-thorn bushwhack comply with the following

Flank the ridge to the North between the two given way points. Ignore this advice and you will be very sorry. The buck-thorn is from waist to chest high and VERY unforgiving. To put it bluntly, you will bleed while being subjected to great pain.

A few thoughts
  • Long pants are advised.
  • Depending on your route you will encounter small sections of Class 3, bring leather gloves.
  • Seriously consider insect repellant and bug netting for your head.
  • To the exception of avoiding the buck-thorn, waypoints will not be given. Plotting your own route and executing it is part of this challenge.
  • Do this right and the Sentinel will be nothing more than a strenuous hill climb.
  • A topographical map does a really great job at depicting the features of terrain. The one thing it will not indicate is the actual growth of vegetation. Expect it, as it is there.

The cache is a pelican container under rocks at the base of two trees growing out of a single point. FTF, take what you want.
