Traditional quiet lane side cache. Do not walk or park along the dangerous main road. There is safe parking on the lane or at Ludham Bridge. The Dog Pub is not far away. Can be combined with other nearby caches for a stroll from your boat mooring at Womack Water, How Hill or Ludham Bridge. It is not far from the caravan sites.
The Bishop of Norwich is still the Abbot of St Benet's Abbey which can be seen in the distance. It was the only monastery not to be dissolved by Henry the Eighth. Closer to you is Ludham Hall beyond the hedge, which was the Bishop's summer residence in the past. In 1611 a fire destroyed much of this building, hence the Old Norfolk Rhyme: Bad Bishop Jeggon, Our short, fat, Lord Bishop Of Norfolk was he That caused that Great Fire At Ludham to be.
