This cache is placed to fulfill the requirements of a cache placed
by King Boreas called "Minnesota Challenge -- County Seats"
GC15FYZ for Mahnomen
County. "Placement of a cache counts the same as finding a cache,
but only if there are NO prior caches in the county seat."
While planning a caching trip up into the NW corner of MN, I was
searching for caches in the county seats to move closer to
finishing this challenge. But there weren't any caches to be found
in this county seat so started working on a plan to hide one. First
step was to find a cacher that would be willing to watch over it
and found not only one but two so it will be well cared for. A
great BIG thank you goes out to judykh and Former Hawkeye for their
assistance!
Visited NW MN this last weekend and stopped in Mahnomen with my
sister (one of the MartyParty) where the spot that I had picked out
from Google maps turns out to be a quick PnG on your way through.
But while you are there, take a minute more to check out the very
close nearby benchmark, Mahnomen AZ MK. And if you go down a block,
there are more benchmarks to be discovered at the county
courthouse.
