Geocache Description:

Kemberton Furnace and Mill

On the Westley Brook, some two miles south of Shifnal furnace, and on the Kemberton side of the brook..Derelict paper mills stand on the site, which is in a valley only 50yds wide. The water supply is from a mill pond of almost three acres formed by damming the whole width of the valley. There is a substantial quantity of charcoal slag and other debris under and in front of the papermill buildings and extending downstream along the tail race and in the brook. A small quantity of widely scattered cold-blast coke slag appears to have drifted on to the site from the roughly surfaced lane leading to Kemberton village. The paper mills were in use not later than 1790. The Mill was then used for grinding corn which closed closed in 1900; The building is no longer in use; there are 2 mill ponds and weir flashes
