wvboyinga: Went by the other day because I was in the area and checked on it. It is indeed gone and the hiding place has shifted so it is no a good place for a hide.

Geocache Description:

This cache is at Gray Hill Park. The current community center is built where the old Gray Hill School stood.

The school began in 1920 when Thomas Polhill was elected superintendent of Troup County Schools. Many of the small schools within the district were poorly attended and falling apart due to poor construction. Mr. Polhill authorized the building of 9 modern school buildings of which Gray Hill was one of these schools. James Simpson Bartley, the namesake of the road the school faced, donated the land the school was built upon. The school first offered a solid teaching staff with principal K.T. Wilson and four teachers. The school also offered 4-H and the Boys Club.

In recent history the school was torn town and replaced by the community center that currently sits on the spot. (As I research the history of the school further I will update the description.
