Dawdling a bit further round "The V", you can of course park nearby, but why not walk out from the village, no parking at cache and it's a single track road so your driver may have to abandon you if another car comes. . Take care on the busy B742 as the cars zoom past and you may have to jump on to the verge.
This area really hasn't changed all that much in the last 2 centuries, the nearby mills have disapeared, and the road is wider and sections have been straightened. But other than that the view accross to the Viaduct is probaly similar to when it was opened to passenger trains and goods trains in 1856. It was part of the Ayr and Dalmellington Railway. The last passenger train ran in 1964, but there are still coal trucks from the open cast mines that use it today. . The cache is a micro within larger camouflage. .
