Esker Walk Rocks Traditional Cache

A short easy stroll along an esker trail.
Alaska Man and I have decided that the Denali Highway is one of our favorite places on the planet. We especially like the Paxson side, with it's wide expansive views and tundra wildlife. This June 2011 weekend marked our slowest and perhaps funnest trip across the road. The weather was spectacular, the traffic low, and the hikes many.
After spending the night on the west side of an unnamed lake (at mile 29.3 in the Milepost)....we walked across the road to another small turnout. Take a few steps through some bushes at the north of the pullout, and a trail emerges to the left that will take you all the way out to the end of the esker. The cache is not quite that far out. No need to leave the trail until right before the cache. The view is sweet, the birds full of song, and the trek an easy jaunt, even for small children.
We replaced this small cache with a regular ammo can on 8/6/2017.
