This cache was placed during the Kolman (now spelled "Coleman") family reunion at the Warwick Town Park.
Felix Kolman (born 1884) immigrated here in the early 1900s from Poland. Not too long after arrival, he married Antoinette Karas (born 1887), also from Poland on September 24, 1906. The two had 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. There are now only 3 living of the original 10, but many offspring scatter the nation. On July 2, 2011, we had a reunion to celebrate the life of Felix and Antoinette and the legacy they left behind.
Some of the history our family contributed to include: early crop dusting of the black dirt fields (Uncle Joe owned the Joe Coleman Airport - currently a bulk material business and adjacent golf course), Nationwide Insurance (Uncle John was the Nationwide Insurance Agent for most of the area back then, Justice of the Peace (Dan was the local Magistrate in both the Town of Warwick and Village of Florida Court for over 35 years), Coleman-Seward Park (Dussenbury Drive was once owned by Joe Coleman, all the streets were names for his best friends - Charles DUSSENBURY, etc), several members of the family were Florida Fire Chiefs, one is currently a Florida Fire Commissioner, some members were local cops and police chiefs, farmers, and plumbers (Coleman's Plumbing and Heating).
The family was raised in an old farm house that still looks the same in the Village of Florida. In fact, while no longer owned by a member of our family, I am told a picture of Grandma Coleman and her children still hangs in the house (a picture of them all sitting on the front porch). While many family members moved to other parts of the country, many remained in the Warwick area.
The area where this cache is hidden is a spot I often visited while in the park. In fact, in our Catholic elementary school, we held our field day here and me and the boys often disappeared to this place to hang out. It's cool, as it feels like you're indoors under the canopy of the trees and brush. This area was wooded years ago, but has now been developed into a disc golf course - it is actually much more beautiful than before.
No need to bush-wack to get to GZ, simply follow the trail that leads through the woods. The cache is hidden right off the trail, and if not covered as it is left it could be muggled as it's in plain sight. So please make it stealthy after you log it. Thanks!
