Nåværende skoleskip er det 6. skipet som seiler under navnet Gann.
Dagens skip er ex. M/S Narvik. Dette skipet ble overtatt direkte fra hurtigrutedrift 21. februar 2007.
Litt historie:
Den 24. januar 1947 ble Unge Sjømenns Kristelige Forening stiftet. Kaptein Høie tok initiativ til å skaffe et skoleskip til utdannelse av førstereisgutter. Visjonen var at en skulle nytte et maskindrevet fartøy for å gi unge gutter et godt grunnlag for sitt yrke på kristelig grunn
I 1968 bygget skolen et nye kaianlegg på Tømmerodden, samt et undervisningsbygg i to etasjer. Her er plass til flere klasserom, verksted, tømmerverksted, aktivitetssenter, vifterom, lagerrom, dusjanlegg, vaskeri, tørkerom, strykerom, toaletter og administrasjonskontorer. Tomten har også gitt plass til naustopptrekk av båter, fotballbane og parkeringsplass.
Skipet er fortsatt i drift. Skoleskipet Gann var tidlig ute med å ta inn jenter. Dette er et pluss for miljøet ombord og et viktig steg fremover. Gann er et av to skoleskiptilbud som er igjen i Norge, for den som søker en maritim utdannelse. Skoleskipet Gann har blitt et kvalitetsbegrep som får honnør fra offentlig skoleverk, maritimt miljø og rederstanden.
Siden starten har ca. 10 500 elever gått på skoleskipet Gann. Skolen har i dag (skoleåret 2009/2010) 45 elever på VG1 Teknikk og Industriell Produksjon (TIP) og 60 elever på VG2 Maritime fag. I tillegg har vi 21 lærlinger på VG3 Elektrikerfaget. Dette er et samarbeid med Maritimt Opplæringskontor i Haugesund. Fra 1973 har elevene også fått brann- og havarivernkurs.

A little history:
The 24 January 1947 was Young Seafarers' Christian Association founded. Captain Høie took the initiative to provide a training ship for the education of first trip. The vision was that one would use a power-driven vessel to give young boys a good foundation for his work on Christian ground
In 1968 the school built a new pier at Timber headland, and an educational buildings on two floors. There is space for more classrooms, workshops, carpentry workshops, activity centers, vifterom, storage rooms, showers, laundry, drying, ironing room, toilets and administrative offices. The site has also provided space for boathouses drawdown of boats, soccer field and parking lot.
The ship is still in operation. Skoleskipet Gann was quick to take in girls. This is a plus for the environment on board and an important step forward. Gann is one of two school ships offering that is left in Norway, for those seeking a maritime education. Skoleskipet Gann has been a quality concept that gets praise from the public school system, maritime environment and prepares the stand.
Since inception, approximately. 10 500 students attended school ship Gann. The school has today (school year 2009/2010) 45 students of the VG1 Technical and Industrial Production (TIP) and 60 students of the VG2 Maritime subjects. In addition, we have 21 apprentices in VG3 Electrical installation and maintenance. This is a collaboration with the Maritime Training Agencies in Haugesund. From 1973, students also received fire and safety course.
