The day begins with a white water river raft that is guaranteed to get the blood flowing and awaken all of your senses. Rafting 6 Mile Creek is a fabulous adventure and will be guided by expert professional guides. The creek contains the biggest guided white water in Alaska and unfortunately has an age limit of 12 for the 2 Canyon Run and 16 for the 3 Canyon Run.
But have no fear as the second half of the day (after a stop for lunch) will bring you into the realm of incredible mountain scenery and give you an Alaskan experience few have seen. We will be hiking up Palmer Creek Falls. This is an uphill trek to a spot of majesty. We will be hiking up the side of a waterfall. The trip is around 5 miles in total and has about 2000' elevation gain. Good shoes/boots and rain gear are recommended. Water and trail snacks are a must as this is a very remote location and there are no facilities of any kind. There are several "aahh" moments in Alaska as we live in a postcard, but this is one of the grand ones and so few ever witness it. Today is your lucky day.

Come join us for some very serious whitewater fun as we take a whitewater adventure ride through the 6 Mile Creek. There will be lots of fun to be had and memories to be made as we soak ourselves in the glory of some of the biggest whitewater in Alaska, on a guided rafting trip through an awesome intense section of river.
This is not a trip for the beginner. This is class IV & V whitewater. This is not a lazy river and not recommended for a first time rafting experience. If you are adventurous then come give it a try. It is work to paddle in the fast moving current through the big hydraulics, but the exhilaration and adrenaline are an extreme “aahh” moment and worth the effort.
All the gear is provided as part of the package with the guide service. You will need to wear warm layered clothing under the dry suits to stay warm, but the dry suits will keep the cold water from soaking you. There is limited space and a fee associated with this event. We have 10 seats reserved for this trip and each attendee will need to call and secure their seat with a 50% deposit. The trip is open to ages 12 and up for the two canyon run and ages 16 and up for the three canyon run and will cost $134 per person for the three canyon run and $94 for the two canyon run. You will need to call 800-746-5753 and mention the Geocaching rafting trip July 16 when you are reserving your seats. You can also reserve online at nova-alaska.com
This trip should fill up fast so hurry and sign up and secure your deposit. Come join us as we celebrate the grandeur of the great State we live in.
We will all meet at the listed coordinates at the Hope Road cut-off at 8:30am in preparation of a 9:00am departure for the river. This should be a great trip. It is possible to not do all three canyons if you don’t feel up to the class V water in the third canyon. The cost of the trip is less for the two canyon run.
The parking for the hike is very limited and we will need to carpool. 4 Wheel drive is a must for the Palmer Creek Road. It is a one lane non-maintained gravel road with very limited areas to turn around. We will meet after the rafting trip, then break for lunch and then regroup and head for the Falls. Bring your GPS and water proof cameras as this will be a day of adventure.
Dress in layers and be prepared for a long day of adventure. Hiking poles and a hair hat are nice things to have along as well. The weather can always change and the mountain passes are always susceptible to clouds and rain. Come out and experience the glory of Hope and the sheer awesomeness of The Land of “Aahh”laska.
See you all on the river.
This is an event in two parts. It can all be attended for one incredible day or either portion of the day can be attended and still get credit for hanging out with us and taking in the awesomeness that is “Aahh”laska.
