Another "Welcome to the Mornington Peninsula" Series of Caches, highlighting all the towns of the Mornington Peninsula.
Nestled in the valley between the twin peaks of Arthurs Seat and Mount Martha. Housing development in Dromana has crept up its vegetated hillside during recent years, providing stunning views of Port Phillip Bay from many of the streets.
The establishment of Dromana Pier during the 1870s encouraged commercial development and the town assumed a more recreational function, with visitors arriving from Melbourne by steam ship. Since the 1940s its popularity has attracted legions of foreshore campers each year between November and Easter. The hub of the town is a functional shopping centre located along Pt Nepean Road opposite the pier. Well kept foreshore lawns provide picnic shelters and playgrounds, while the long sweep of beach between Anthony's Nose and Safety Beach is a magnet for summer daytrippers.
cache is log only so bring your own pen
The difficult rating has been raised for this one as retrieval is now much harder than before. I have decided to leave the location of this cache where it is so it won't disappear yet again. There will be no logs accepted saying I can see it but I can't reach it. You MUST sign the log book to claim a find. This is clearly stated in the geocaching rules.
You may need to assess the situation and return at a later date with the correct tools.
