Geocache Description:

This is part of the Kilmarnock Chess series.

As Kilmarnock is 'under-cached' I thought I would add a few more to the area. After a long thought I came up with the Kilmarnock Chess series.

The most elegant, and almost gentleman like, piece on the chess board is the Bishop. He glides effectively in clear diagonal movements.

And now for the cache. The Old High Kirk sits on Soulis Street in Kilmarnock, near to the Arches. It was started in 1732, with a secondary aspect of the church being constructed circa 1740. The Soulis column is located within the churchyard, signifying the death of Lord Soulis in 1444. In it's day it was a fine looking piece of architecture, but unfortunately in recent times the local wildlife has found it attractive as there is poor lighting at night time.

Bearing this in mind I have located the cache on the opposite side of the road from the church, almost on the public footpath. It is a 35mm film canister and there is no pen, so please bring your own.It is also magnetic. Parking is not great in the area, but there are one or two caches nearby, so it might be worthwhile undertaking this one as a small Killie route. Happy hunting!
