You are looking for a well hidden round thermal container. Container is 5" high and 4" across. Don't worry, you will not get wet if you find it. The log book and pencil are in the cap of the container that flips off; the treasures are under the lid that screws off.
GPS was a little jumpy. Should get you close enough to figure it out. Good Luck
You can park right beside the cache if you like. Please park on the gravel side of the chain fence, not the paved side.
The Hythe Fire Department built this new fire hall in 2004. The old hall located across from the ATB Financial was built in 1956 with an addition in 1981. The department quickly outgrew the space of the old hall, and it was decided a new hall needed to be built.
The estimated $1.2 million project was out of the financial range for the community and the fire department. Undeterred, the members of the Hythe Fire Department sat down, planned the project and got started.
Using mostly volunteer labour and donated land, the project was finished in under a year and for less than a 1/3 of the original estimated cost. Countless hours were spent at the location every day. Many businesses and contractors would donate materials and time to the project. Many members of the community would also come down and help. It was truly a community effort.
Then building is a true testament to the drive and the resolve of the members of the department and the residents of the Village of Hythe and surrounding County of Grande Prairie.
You will notice names on the bay doors. These are businesses and individuals that played a huge financial roll in the construction of the hall.
