Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache that contains a log book only so BYOP.

This is pushchair friendly, the nearest parking available is the supermarket or canal basin approximately .4 miles away.

The cache has been placed at the beginning of Bugsworth Basin.

The reinstatement of Bugsworth Basin is one of the success stories of the voluntary canal restoration movement. The Inland Waterways Protection Society commenced restoration of both it and the entrance canal in 1968 and, after experiencing severe difficulties with leaks; it was finally reopened in 2005. Because of its national importance, both as the largest inland port on the narrow canal network and as a monument to Britain's industrial heritage, it is now scheduled as an Ancient Monument. The vast limestone and lime traffic from Bugsworth Basin ceased in the 1920s and today it is a popular visitor attraction for people with a wide variety of interests.
