The artificial lake

North of the parking lot is a row of trees and a walking path. In the recess behind the trees was a lake from the middle of the 1300 century and until 1800. It was the Danish King Valdemar Atterdag who had it dammed so it could work as a reservoir which should provide water to the castle’s moats. It was called the bathhouse lake and one tale say that it is because of a bathhouse which was floated when the lake was created. There has been found a house, but if it is the bathhouse isn’t clear. Another tale is that King Valdemar the Great had his bathhouse hear, and that his lover Tove was roasted to death by his queen.
